  40. My method for brewing tea:
    1) Boil water and pour into mug.

  47. Interestingly, the highest per-capita consumption of tea in the world at ~300l per year is not in England or even China, but in the Eastern Frisia region of Germany. There it is customary to offer tea to anyone who enters your home. It is so important to the Frisian culture that during and after WWII, when tea was strictly rationed, the locals would trade their butter and eggs for more tea from other parts of the country.

The Frisians, too, have a special tea ceremony. A special blend of about 20 different kinds of black tea (the "Frisian blend" or "Friesenmischung") is brewed in a pre-heated pot. Chunks of rock sugar are placed in the tea cups before the tea gets poured, then a spoonfull of heavy cream is added. The tea does not get stirred, first so you can enjoy the different flavours of bitter tea, cream and sugar in layers, and secondly so that the chunk of rock sugar can last for several refills. Generally it is considered rude towards your host to drink less than at least three cups.
