Ahhh thank you so much to my sweet twitter follower who suggested this roleplay and I was like…. wait….YES?? So I did it. And it was so much fun! I have loved loved loved The Sound of Music since I was a wee child, and reading all your comments, it seems I’m not the only one! I hope I did Julie Andrews a little bit of justice lmao – I love that her accent is a bit british and a bit transatlantic at the same time!
So get comfy in your bed, and let your new Governess Maria sing you to sleep so we can have a full fun day tomorrow!
Fun fact – my Oma (German for grandma) MADE the clothes that I’m wearing, dress and jacket!!! I thought it was perfect for Maria! More fun fact – my Oma and Opa actually knew the real Von Trapp family! Did you know The Sound of Music is based on a true story and family? Well, it’s completely Hollywood-ized LOL and even the names of the children aren’t accurate BUT – they knew them! Lived near their lodge. Small world??

Oh my God! That was so beautiful and moving. 🙌❤️🙌 When I was a little kid I stayed with my grandmother when my parents were working. She had this little jewellery box which was a music box, too. It had an Edelweiss flower on top and when you opened the box it would play Edelweiss from the Sound of Music. One of my grandmothers favorite songs. Every day after lunch we had this ritual that I open the box and listen to the song. Every day. I loved it so much.
When my grandmother died, I was far away on another continent. I wasn‘t able to make it in time to her funeral and somebody already had taken the music box away that meant so much to me. I was so sad. Now this was almost 30 years ago. And now that I heard it again, I‘m bawling my eyes out, thinking of my grandmother and the good times we had together. Miss you, Oma Helene! ❤️
