BTS Takes on ASMR in New “Run BTS!” Episode

Since it was first teased last week, ARMYs around the world have been eagerly anticipating BTS taking on ASMR, and the time has finally come.

On March 31, a new episode of their variety show Run BTS! premiered on both Weverse and VLIVE, and it’s the perfect mix of chaotic and calming. In the episode, the members continue the pajama party theme they started in the previous one, which dropped a week ago.

From guessing games featuring Bangtan music videos to a competitive karaoke sesh, the septet once again gifts us our weekly dose of serotonin through the fun challenges, but it’s the ASMR segment that stole the show despite being the chillest (at least, for the most part.) For the episode’s second game, the seven members take on the viral art of whispering (and chewing), and it’s the type of BTS content we never knew we needed. To make it Run! appropriate, of course, a competitive aspect had to be added to the challenge: each member chooses a piece of paper with an ASMR task written on it. The member who gets the lowest decibel score wins the round.

Suga (a.k.a. Min Yoongi) kicks off the game, successfully (and stoically) munching down on some chonggak-kimchi. Jin goes second, gulping down a massive glass of orange juice.

Jimin’s turn changes thing up slightly as he tasked with reading a full page out loud (providing the whispering aspect of ASMR to perfection). But then it’s V’s turn, and his dalgona-breaking conundrum serves as comedic relief for the segment.

J-Hope goes fifth and looks dreamy (seriously, we need the skincare routine) as he improvises a spoken-word poem of sorts for ARMY. RM follows in sixth place scrunching some flowers sponges (with a few surprises), and Jungkook closes off the round taking on the dreaded rice puff treats.

Before the episode dropped, we knew that having BTS and ASMR in the same concept was going to be a treat, but after actually watching, it’s clear that BTS ASMR is maybe the only thing we need to soothe our souls in this climate (well, this and the performance of “Boy With Luv” on James Corden’s “Homefest”). Please excuse us while we rewatch those over and over (and over) again.
