Sugar skulls aren't for Halloween, they're for "the days of the dead" or "las días de los muertos" which just happens to coincide with Halloween. It's actually a Spanish celebration of the dead unlike Halloween which was originally from All Hallows' Eve

She was raised around the culture with family and her step father. If this is cultural appropriation then any Mexican Americans or anyone . who dress up for Halloween and a witch or a werewolf or dresses up In general for Halloween is disrespectful because they don't know the origin of Halloween. It's based off of All Hallows' eve. Originally Pegans used this day to stock up supplies and slaughter live stock for winter. Sooo if I can't complain about Halloween you shouldn't be able to complain about her doing this. She didn't disrespect it by calling it stupid she simply stated it was for Halloween. Which many people use in costumes. If it offends you I'm sorry, but you offend me by being so butt hurt. I didn't hear her call it stupid or silly. And for those who aren't offended well done you've learned to not be butt hurt. And before anyone attacks me for disrespecting the Hispanic traditions or community I did not. I have a lot of respect for the Hispanic community and heritage. It Is a lovely culture mostly full of kind people who love their family and friends. I went to a makeup academy, my entire class were white including my teacher, we had an entire month based on sugar skulls and the day of the dead, we were educated on the background and were marked on our versions of a sugar skull. Does this count as cultural appropriation?
