Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and Republica Havas Deliver ASMR When We Need it Most

Confession: I have a thing for ASMR. Ocean waves crashing, palm fronds swaying, light rain falling—these are all sounds that make me very happy. But let’s take a step back. What exactly is ASMR? Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response is a physical sensation experienced in response to certain sounds wherein the body is flooded with waves of euphoric tingles. In other words, it’s a damn good feeling. Some call it “transcendent” others use “shower of sprinkles” to describe the experience. You know it when you feel it.

And ASMR is exactly what I felt when I popped in my AirPods and stepped into the serene soundscape of Earth Unplugged available on Apple Music and Spotify. Created by Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and Republica Havas, the album allows listeners to feel like they’re right in the heart of South Florida’s tranquil paradise, without having to leave the safety and comfort of their own homes.

“This isn’t a typical nature playlist. This is a full-blown acoustical experience where listeners can hear nature with their brain and their hearts, rather than just their ears,” explained Jorge A. Plasencia, co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Republica Havas. “With ambisonic technology, you’re right in the midst of an entire choir, nature-style.”
