Listening to Alb talks about Luigi makes my eyes tears up because as a person who loves animals (especially 🐈 and 🐕) I got easily touch with this kind of thing. this tribute that she makes for Gibi and Ben are very sweet and lovely. RIP Luigi. 🙏🙏

Art history human here, at the time that printing and illustration were well established photography was still quite new, and beyond that, it wasn’t really considered art at that point. it was science and chemistry and documentation, and cameras didn’t take the greatest quality photographs the first time. I’m sleepy but i couldnt stop internally screaming after I realized I knew something and could contribute

I also would resort the crayons in my 64 or 102 box of Crayola. I think I used to do it by like "here's the primaries, here's the metallics, the pastels" etc. (but I might also have done "here are all the reds, here are all the yellows"
I tried doing this and then my mom walked into my room and just said what the heck are you doing. I just slowest closed my computer, and said uhhh. It was probably because it sounded like I was just talking to myself in a weird voice.

Regarding the use of illustrations in mid century advertising: during the late 19th century visuals had been proven to catch readers' interest a lot more than just text and, therefore, to be very useful to advertising. But up until the second half of the 20th century photographs were very expensive to include in newspapers and magazines, and the use of color was also very limited with photographs, so illustrations remained a simpler, cheaper option to spark the readers' interest. I guess it also allowed more freedom since computer graphics didn't exist, so illustrators could draw anything a picture couldn't show without digital help. It's probably not the whole story but that's what I can contribute 🙂
they are called chokers. My daughter has tons of them from Claire's, but now they are closed here in the US.
