Thanks to Fifine for providing the product samples for this review!

Today on Relaxing Reviews I test out the Fifine K678 USB microphone! This condenser mic touts a 16 mm capsule, a real-time monitoring jack, and an all-metal body that’s aesthetically inspired by the popular Blue Yeti, one of this model’s chief competitors. It’s marketed towards streamers, podcasters, and gamers looking for a solid microphone under $100. However, its characteristics suggest it might be good for ASMR recordings too! Moreover, I was quite impressed with the last Fifine microphone I reviewed. Can we pair two K678s and make some tingly recordings? Can it give the Blue Yeti a run for its money? Let’s find out!

ASMR triggers include soft speaking, tapping, unboxing sounds, whispering, and mic brushing. I recommend listening with headphones for the best experience!

—– WHAT IS ASMR? —–
My videos are designed to trigger a relaxing feeling known as ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response). ASMR is a particular sensation that some people experience when they hear quiet sounds like whispering and soft speaking, or watch certain actions like slow hand motions. ASMR is often described as a pleasant tingling on the head and neck, accompanied by a feeling of deep calm and mild euphoria. Many people watch ASMR videos to relax and combat anxiety, stress, or insomnia. To learn more about ASMR, check out https://asmruniversity.com/about-asmr/what-is-asmr.

Ever since you reviewed the K670, I decided to pick one up for myself and it's honestly the best desk mic I've ever used, wouldn't have ever heard about it weren't for your awesome channel. Thanks for that! <3

  8. You, my fine sir, are an absolute chad 3>

  9. WhippyWhip says:

are there any usb to xlr adaptors out there that would allow someone to connect this to an audio interace?

  10. Sickled says:

i really enjoy all your videos <3! thanks for all the work you do!!

  11. Joker says:

Personally, I think whisper is k678 better. Tapping is blue yeti better.(I'm sorry for my poor English.)

  12. Ezra King says:

I have a feeling microphone B is the Fifine simply because it sounds like they are wayyy out of phase with each other which is a problem experienced more with cheaper mics

  13. I have a £100 yeti and a £ 15 fifine, fifine is better!

  14. JMaxchill says:

On one level I realise what you mean by Yeti Bait, on the other I'm picturing a mountain with a huge cardboard box hooked up to the mic, just waiting for a yeti to turn up and start vlogging

  15. Gibs Smolsky says:

Really enjoy your content in all form especially skyrim, I really wanna jump into making asmr with my blue yeti, any recommendations on settings or something I could try to start? I am really intimidated to attempt it, and I've always found your asmr much more approachable man.

Nick, while I’m so fascinated by your tech reviews and expertise, I actually had to watch this one twice because the triggers knocked me tf out 😂😂

    Phenomenal vid as always 😊

  17. Any possibility of doing xlr mic reviews? I do love the budget usb mic reviews. Great video as always.

  18. As a couple others said here, I – As an owner of the FiFine K678 – too was bamboozled! Despite the fact that the Rode mics have a reputation as having such fine audio fidelity, with such low-noise floor parting of that equation, they are also noted as being so crisp-sounding, which is pointed out in a YT video – Rode NT1 shootout with the Shure SM7B. With this in mind, Mic B sounded more crisp to me, and I wrongly identified it as the K678. Maybe, there could be reasons for that though – someone here pointing out that the cheaper USB mics inherently have phasing problems, which could give an impression of a brighter sound!
Finally, I wanted to inquire a little bit about your use of VoiceMeeter to bring about the pairing of the two identical USB mics for stereo effect: Were the two K678s (as well as the two NT1-As, of course!) connected to your laptop in the manner of using two of its USB ports, or did you use a USB hub? Also, can you please explain to me how you got the OS to recognize two identical mics (well, the same Make/Model of a mic) as 'Mic 1' & 'Mic 2'? Thanks for taking the time to make this clear to me – Many thanks!

First time watching* apparently this guy is my boy.

  20. Dope intro 😁

  21. Jeff Heinick says:

The Blue Yeti is fine and dandy, but on pure raw sound there's much better options. I feel like people think an audio interface is difficult to use.

The Yeti has some intangibles that are great things to have, but they're becoming the beats of the Microphone world, which is a shame because they're actually built good.

  22. Joshua Wells says:

Hey guys, it’s ya boi skinny penis😂 don’t hate me nick. Love the videos man keep it up😂😂

  23. Tuzi says:

mic A (which i believe to be the Rode) blows mic B out of the water, but it could be a bit harder to detect if it weren’t for the fifine’s weird stereo separation that was immediately noticeable.

edit: compared to the yeti, there is definitely some peaky sibilance in the K678, but it definitely seems like a good value option if you’re able to use post effects like noise reduction and EQ.

  24. Aksel says:

hello, when you plugged the fifine k678 in the computer did it automatically work? and how can you record a video if the mic is connected to the computer?

  25. Why do I love when you say “price point?” 💜🥴😴

  26. I've bought the same one. Amazing sound and build quality!
How did you record this video with the audio from the microphone? Do you ad the sound in post or is there a program you are using? I'm trying to film myself via smartphone, and record with the mic, but without success..
    your help would be appreciated.
    Love your videos!

  27. RW Reeves says:

    9:42 Don't mean to sound like a snob, but it's actually a micro hdmi😁

  28. It’s not compatible with iPhone is it?? I plugged it into my phone and the mic volume was pretty loud and clear until I opened my camera, than the mic volume automatically went down and I could barely hear myself. Not sure if it’s a problem with my camera but in the feature description of the mic, it does say not compatible with any phone.
