ASMR – History of Textiles and Clothing

The French Whisperer ASMR

In this male soft spoken ASMR video with hand movement, we explore the history of textiles and clothing:
– where fibers come from and how they were adopted by mankind, with special sections about the history of cotton, silk and wool.
– how textile, its manufacturing and trade, influenced international relations and contributed to economic history.
– the evolution of clothing and a few things it tells us about Western societies since the 15th Century.

Her next international exhibition will take place in 2021 at the Bode Museum in Berlin. It will feature large paintings of ancient textiles alongside the originals.

  10. “You can relax and let me do the work.” How can you not love that? Great work as usual!

  11. As a history teacher, I feel physically compelled to note that cotton production took off in the American South after 1790 due to the mechanized cotton gin patented by Eli Whitney. This allowed short staple cotton, which is easier to grow but harder to clean by hand, to become a profitable cash crop. Before the cotton gin, only long stapled varieties were profitable, but it couldn’t be grown in as many places and it was still labor intensive to clean, so cash crops like rice, indigo, and tobacco were more dominant. Now that I have that off my chest, I can drift off to sleep listening to one of my favorite topics. 🙂

  12. You are such a treat! Exquisite.
