The Cross of St. George (4 rays) + the Cross of St. Andrew (4 rays) = 8 rays ! The number of Pagan Holi (Holy)days = 8 ! Seems like the Octagonal form lies at the basis of Paganism and subtlely creeps onto the British flag though probably not consciously intended !
